Future

As we walk into the future it is important to remember as a people that if we fail to find some sort of balance with this planet we will surely all parish. We have, through the ages, always grown larger and larger on a global scale but what happens when that growth is no longer sustainable? What do we do when continuing that growth will cost us our lives?

Consider the northern white cedar. Northern white-cedar (Thuja occidentalis) is also called eastern white-cedar, arborvitae, and swamp-cedar. This tree is truly a friend of mankind providing not only a valuable for deer habitat that includes in mixed stands such as balsam fir, black spruce, white spruce, tamarack, black ash, and red maple, but also for commercial harvest. Log furniture made from northern white cedar does not ooze sap, or attract insects. In addition the furniture can to remain outside because cedar logs do not rot or mildew, even when left untreated. Northern White Cedar is a natural material that repels both weather and insects, yet can be used both indoors and outdoors as stunning rustic furniture. Not maintaining the habitat that has moving soil water and usually are near streams or other drainage ways for northern white cedar or over cutting will deplete this resource quickly. The main range of northern white-cedar extends through the southern part of the eastern half of Canada and the adjacent northern part of the United States. Just like many other natural resources, northern white cedar needs our awareness on a local, national, and global scale.

However, I hate to break it to you but if we continue down our current path, we do not have very long before that is exactly we will face. I don’t mean to be a drag. I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade. I am simply stating the facts, Jack. If we continue to grow at our current rate very soon the resources that are on this planet will not be enough to satisfy our consumption rate.

We are currently taking all of the fossil fuels out of the earth & burning through it like there is no tomorrow. We are ripping through rain forest and changing the eco system all around the world. The ocean floor looks like one of the city dumps we find in every major city around the world. We are producing refuse at an alarming rate & some of our garbage will not decompose for what seems like an eternity. This is not acceptable behavior for a responsible people. The worst part is that most of this raping & pillaging is being done in the name of capitalism. It is being done by people with weak moral value’s & who are totally lacking in conscious altogether.
